It features 7 playable characters across 5 distinct classes, each with unique weapons, skills, and special attacks. Combat design spans melee, ranged, and magic systems, crowd control, boss mechanics, and player feedback loops. With over 40 enemy types, procedural levels, and friendly NPCs that assist in combat, the game showcases a broad range of encounter design and combat depth—crafted entirely in Unity.
Boss Encounters Design
The Butcher
A chaotic mob fight led by The Butcher, a towering boss inspired by Diablo. He swings with overwhelming force and throws his massive cleaver as a deadly ranged attack, pushing the player to stay mobile and manage crowd control.
Mini-Boss Encounter — Medusa
Though labeled a mini-boss, Medusa wields the power of a full boss, launching a variety of deadly ranged attacks. Survival relies on timing, cover, and strategic blocking to close the distance and land hits.
Tower Summit
Final boss fight against the dragon at the highest tower in Crumbling World. The battle showcases multi-range combat design, with the dragon switching between aerial and ground phases, using sweeping fire attacks, dive strikes, and area denial tactics. This encounter was designed to test the player’s movement, timing, and adaptability at the climax of the level.
The Thing
A combat showcase featuring The Thing from the Caves, a boss enemy that blends melee and ranged attacks into deadly combos. This encounter highlights the boss’s combat design, with varied attack patterns and special abilities that challenge the player's positioning, timing, and strategy.
The Tormented Knight
This powerful enemy blends traditional melee combat with deadly long-range magic attacks. Armed with a long spear and dark sorcery, the Tormented Knight challenges players to stay mobile and adapt quickly.
NPC Design
The King
The King is a powerful ally NPC who fights alongside the player throughout his cursed kingdom. Wielding a massive double-sided axe, he excels at crowd control, offering heavy support in key battles as he seeks to stop his fallen son. His presence adds narrative depth and dynamic combat moments.
The Hermit
In this encounter, the hermit joins the fight wielding a massive greatsword. This showcases NPC design where allies not only support the player narratively but actively engage in real-time combat, creating dynamic ally-vs-enemy encounters.
Basic Enemy Design
Dragon Threat
This level blends standard enemy encounters with a squad leader and surprise attacks from a distant dragon. These random assaults introduce the looming presence of the dragon boss, building tension and setting up the lore and full boss fight awaiting at the end of the level.
Magic-Wielding Enemies
In this level, enemies are skilled in the arcane arts, casting powerful ranged spells. Players must dodge, block, and time their attacks carefully to counter the magical onslaught and survive the enchanted battlefield.
Enemy Variety and Group Encounters
This clip highlights the variety of enemy types encountered in the Caves level, including both basic mobs and stronger leader variants. The combat showcases real-time action against mixed enemy groups, emphasizing target prioritization and crowd control.
Player Combat Design
Combat Progression – Unlockable Special Attacks
Leveling up grants access to powerful special attacks designed for crowd control. These abilities help clear space when surrounded by small hordes, offering tactical advantages and rewarding player progression.
The Creature
Showcase of The Creature, a playable class that relies on brutal bare-handed combat and storm-infused special attacks. This includes lightning strikes that crash down during a storm, creating high-impact moments and devastating enemies in its path.

Players choose from 7 unique characters across 5 distinct classes: Warrior, Archer, Mage, The Creature, and The Brute. Each class offers a unique combat experience with tailored weapons, attacks, special abilities, and playstyles—encouraging replayability and varied strategies throughout the game.
About the Game
Crumbling World is a dark fantasy hack-and-slash RPG set in a decaying world on the brink of collapse. As the land crumbles beneath your feet, you must fight your way through cursed forests, haunted castles, and treacherous underworlds. The game blends fast-paced combat with light storytelling and atmospheric exploration, all wrapped in a gritty, stylized aesthetic. Released on Steam in 2020, it was developed entirely in Unity as a solo project.
